West Bengal Schools, Colleges to reopen from 16 November, 2021
West Bengal Schllos and College are going to open from November 16, 2021. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Monday that schools and colleges in the state will reopen for physical classes from November 16. For the time being, only the students of classes 9 to 12 can attend schools.
The announcement on West Bengal School, College Opening Date 2021 was made in a high level official meeting on October 25, 2021. The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee directed the chief secretary to take necessary measures to facilitate the process. The CM also asked Chief Secretary H K Dwivedi to ensure proper cleaning and sanitisation of all educational institutions.
Mamata Banerjee urged everyone to follow the coronavirus safety protocols during the upcoming Kali Puja, Diwali, Chhat Puja and Jagaddhatri Puja festivities. Also, schools and colleges have been asked to wrap up cleaning and sanitizing work by the end of this week.
Earlier, the government had decided to reopen educational institutes after puja vacation depending on the situation. Educational institutes across the state remained shut for in-campus classes since the nationwide lockdown was announced in March 2020, to check the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in India.
The announcement comes ahead of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) announcing the dates for offline semester board examinations in November.
The state has nearly completed its vaccination schedule for all the teachers and college-goers. Schools said they would wait for the government SOP and also meet parents for their suggestions.
