Sometimes we can think that free schools can not meet the quality education and structure. But here I am going say about such a school that is the best government boarding school in India and everything is free. The name of the school is Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV). It was organised in the year 1984 as per the plan of former Prime Minister Mr. Rajiv Gandhi.The main vision of the school is to provide the best quality modern education and to grow the children in super class environmet, culture and infrasture. The aim of the school is to provide education to the rural talented student those who are economically week. Each state has 15 to 24 JNV schools and about 600 schools in allover India.

Admission Criteria in the best Free Government Boarding School (JNV)

Admissions is taken in class VI only through an entrance test. The entrance exam is design, developed and conducted by CBSE. The exam JNVST is conducted annualy throughout the country to select the students for each JNV. Candidates can apply only once for the test during class V.

Eligibility Conditions for Class VI in JNV

  • Students seeking admission in Class–XI should be within the age limit of 14-18 years as on 1st July, of the year of admission.
  • The candidate must have passed Class–X from a recognized school (affiliated to CBSE or any other State Education Board) of the district where the JNV is located during the academic session of the year of admission.
  • The merit list will be prepared as per marks obtained by the applicant in the Class–X Board Exam and the admission will be given as per eligibility of candidate and the seats available in the JNV concerned.
  • The candidates must have reasonable competency in English and Hindi.
  • Candidates are applicable to the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of their own district only.
  • Candidates appearing for the selection test must be studying in Class-V for the entire academic session in a Government/Government-Aided school.
  • A candidate seeking admission must be within the age group of 9 to 13 years. This is applicable to candidates of all categories, including those who belong to the Scheduled Castes(SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs).
  • A candidate claiming admission from rural quota must have studied and passed Classes- III, IV and V from a Govt./Govt. Aided/ recognised school spending one full academic session each year in a school located in a rural area.
  • A candidate who has studied in a school located in an urban area even for a single day of a session in any of the Classes-III, IV or V, will be considered as an Urban area candidate.
  • A candidate who has not been promoted and admitted to Class-V before 30th September, is not eligible to apply.
  • No candidate is eligible to appear in the JNV Selection Test for a second time, under any circumstances.
  • At least 75% of the seats in a district are filled by candidates selected from rural areas and remaining seats are filled from urban areas of the district.
  • Reservation allotted seats 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST but subject to maximum of 50% for both the categories (SC & ST) taken together.
  • 27% reservation shall be provided to the OBC students over and above reservation of SCs and STs.
  • Minimum One third of the total seats are filled by girls.
  • There is a provision for reservation for Divyang children (i.e. Orthopedically Handicapped, Hearing Impaired and Visually Handicapped) as per GOI norms.
 

Eligibility Conditions for Class IX in JNV

  • Only those candidates who have studied in Class-VIII in one of the Govt./Govt. recognised schools of the district where the JNV is functioning can seek admission in Class-IX.
  • A candidate seeking admission must be between the age group 13-16 years on 1st May of the year of admission for which the Selection Test is conducted. This is applicable to all categories of candidates including those who belong to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
  • The medium of Language for the Examination is English/Hindi.
