Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad is one of the most prestigious technical institutes, initially started as Indian School of Mines later converted into IIT Dhanbad. The institute is ranked 29th in 2018 by QS World Ranking in the field Engineering-Mining and Mineral Science and earned ranke 173 among BRICS nations in 2029. It is the third oldest among the IITs in India and was established in 1926.
IIT (ISM) Dhanbad located in Dhanbad i.e. the most mineral rich zone in India. The main campus spread out on 218 acres Sardar Patel Nagar, Dhanbad 2nd campus.
